under the
WHS Act.

that DfE
(school)
employees
have
different
characteristics
than general
organisations,
however the
WHS Act
(2012)
applies
equally to
both.
Taking this
into
account, the
course is
designed for
Health and
Safety
Representatives
working in
DfE
(Schools)
and can also
be used as a
valuable HSR
networking
tool.
The course
is delivered
using the
same format
as the
general
Level 1
course, but
takes into
account
different
structures
and services
provided.

GENERAL
LEVEL 1
HEALTH AND
SAFETY
REPRESENTATIVE
COURSE
(5 days)
A five day
course where
participants
will gain an
understanding
of the
principles
of the WHS
Legislation;
including
the role of
the Health
and Safety
Representative
and the
Health and
Safety
Committee.
The course
will provide
participants
with a basic
understanding
of the
principles
and practice
of hazard
management
and skills
to consult
and
negotiate.
